Bliss Stone Massage

Hot stone massage uses warmed stones to massage the body. The heat from the stones can penetrate six times as deep as a normal massage and therefore easily relaxes muscles and induces a calming state of mind. It’s not a new technique; in fact, hot stone massage has been used in many cultures and some say can be dated back to 1500 BC. Intended to be extremely relaxing, our Bliss stone massage involves the placement of sanitized, warmed, smooth basalt rocks (a type of volcanic rock that retains heat) upon different parts of the body and then using the hot stones to actually massage the body. Bliss stone massage is a great treatment for those looking to relax and relieve stress. However, it also may be beneficial to those who experience muscle tension or have had a muscle-related injury. It’s also thought to improve energy flow and circulation through the body, relieve pain and release toxins. Other potential benefits include improved mood and relief from symptoms of arthritis and anxiety.

Sports Massage

Sports massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or to improve function while training. Sports massage emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. Today, Sport Massage can be for anyone as the trained Massage Therapist focuses on the individual needs of the person. With the ever growing number of people taking part in exercise and sport, combined with the increasing competitiveness and intensity, the demand for sports massage is also increasing and becoming more and more recognised as a therapy which may aid recovery and enhance performance. Sports massage has an increasing profile in sports medicine, offering benefits for all kinds of athletes and recreational people who train or play sports on week-ends. Sports massage is a deeper type of massage that works specifically with sporting injuries and ailments and that employs stretching for certain muscle groups to retain and maintain flexibility. Sports massage does have some aims in common with other forms of massage in that it does look for imbalances in the soft tissues. If these imbalances are ignored and allowed to become chronic, they will not only hinder a person’s ability to compete but also to train. Sports Massage is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse.

Deep Tissue Massage

is a slower, deeper, firmer massage employing most of the strokes used in a Swedish Massage. Deep-Tissue Massage concentrates on deeper seated, and often more long-term, chronic problems of the soft tissue, such as static and postural muscles. The Deep Tissue Massage Therapist applies the strokes at a slower pace with more pressure; at times using elbows, knuckles, fists and forearms to work harder without hurting the client in the process and targeting a specific muscle or muscle groups. The treatment is generally deeper (stronger), and can at times create some discomfort. Patients typically describe this as “Good pain” and the results often produce longer lasting relief of pain and discomfort. The Deep Tissue Therapists understands that is not how deep she or he goes, but how they treat the muscle at a deep level. Once they find the level of the problem in the layers of muscle tissue, what matters is how the tissue will be restored to normal. Some typical conditions that may be successfully addressed include limited mobility, osteoarthritis, long-term chronic pain, fibromyalgia, postural problems and muscular adhesions. Depp Tissue Massage speeds up recovery and encourages more complete healing.

Foot Reflex Massage.

Elements of reflexology are used in the Foot Reflex Massage and this creates a very rejuvenating experience, and help boost the energy circulation. Genuine reflexology is the application of pressure onto particular areas of the soles of the feet. A reflex action in another part of the body is stimulated by the manipulation of each specific area. According to Chinese medicine, the sensory nerves of the internal organs that spread throughout the body are mainly gathered around the soles of the feet. Therefore, the massage is effective in stimulating the functions of the internal organs. Another advantage of this therapy is that there is no risk. The fully trained Massage Therapist will deal with the critical points on the feet with utmost care. The pain felt there will disappear when the Therapist finishes the process. The main benefits of Foot Reflex Massage are that it can relieve pain and stiffness and cure many symptoms such as headache, stress, asthma, constipation, sinusitis and migraine.

Indian Head Massage

involves massaging the head, neck, shoulders and face with Sesame Oil with the purpose de-stressing the client and relaxing both their mind and body. Sesame Oil has excellent rejuvenation properties and therefore is an excellent conditioner for hair. Traditional Indian Head Massage was carried out with the client fully clothed – apart from the shoulders – and seated in an ordinary chair. We found that because the treatment is so relaxing, the client would nod off to sleep, and the therapist would have to support their head, while continuing the treatment. So we now teach Indian Head Massage with the client lying down. The therapist uses a range of different movements including application of deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulder and scalp and face areas, modifying pressure according to the area being massaged. Following an Indian Head Massage, some clients experience tiredness but this side effects usually last for no more than a few hours, after which clients generally experience increased energy and alertness. Indian head massage is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension and if you have dry or brittle hair.

It is a gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph from the tissue. Lymph is the plasma-like fluid that maintains the body’s fluid balance and removes bacteria. The lymph system depends on intrinsic movement of muscle cells in the lymph vessels to propel lymph through the vessels to lymph nodes and lymph ducts which return the purified lymph to the cardiovascular system. Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses a specific gentle amount of pressure and rhythmic circular hand movements to stimulate lymph flow. The treatment has been in existence since the 1930’s.

Kahuna Massage

(also known as Lomi Lomi Massage.) One of the key differences between a traditional Western massage and a Kahuna massage is that the massage strokes are continuous, flowing movements, almost like a dance and the therapist breathes continually. Kahuna massage is given with “loving hands”. The massage works on many different layers to bring about balance on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. The intention and focus of the practitioner to client is always with love, this allows a deep and complete healing to take place. This work is done gently but deeply and is very unique in its style, the strokes are very long and fluid. The fusion of the constant flow, breath work and energy healing incorporated in the massage is very effective in balancing and harmonizing the whole person physically, emotionally and spiritually. Kahuna Massage can be a transformative experience, by releasing blocked energy this is a chance to draw in fresh energy and inspiration while releasing stress from the body and mind, allowing the space for more love to flow in and from here you create something positive and new. Subsequently, you feel this in the body where tension just melts away. The best part of the Kahuna Massage is that your body almost goes through a metamorphosis. Unrestrained; the blockages begin to clear The aches and pains literally (at times) can be felt pouring out of the body mind and spirit. An experience not to be missed.

Myofascial ReleaseTherapy:

A form of soft tissue therapy on the body that is manipulative in nature and seeks to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia. (Fascia is the soft tissue component of the connective tissue that provides support and protection for most structures within the human body, including muscle. This soft tissue can become restricted due to, overuse, trauma, infectious agents, or inactivity, often resulting in pain, muscle tension, and corresponding diminished blood flow). Long, stretching strokes are utilized as well as continual palpatory feedback to achieve release of myofascial tissues than result in muscular tension. Myofascial Release is a manual therapy technique that is utilized to help relieve pain and tension that is due to injury or stress. It involves releasing and unwinding the fascia that surrounds each muscle and interconnects all of the other internal parts of the body. This tissue layer, which connects every muscle, tendon, ligament, bone, and organ in our bodies, can store memories of physical trauma. Releasing these restrictions allows us to discharge recurring emotional as well as physical pain. Sessions can include craniosacral work, stretching techniques, and deep touch.

Although the history of massage is extraordinary long, Relaxation massage was the first to be documented at the end of the 19th Century – each stroke, still retaining its French name – ( Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Vibration, Percussion.) The main purpose of Relaxation Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. As such, Relaxation Massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load systems. When muscles become knotted and tense or damaged, remedial massage provides a healing hands on mechanism. The treatment can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow, using a variety of different strokes done in the massage to assist the body to return to normal health. It is used to treat strains, sprains, broken bones, bruising or any injury where the skin is intact. Remedial massage is also used for conditions created by lifestyle for example, over exercising or muscular strains. It is designed to increase the flow of blood and remove toxins, particularly in the injured areas. . A lubricating medium such as massage oil or balm is applied directly on the skin. This ensures that the muscles associated with the disorder can be deeply penetrated. Passive joint stretching may also be used during the massage. It is an unusual form of massage in that it does not set out to relax the patient; the intention is more to fix a mechanical body problem. However, after a few sessions of Remedial Massage, all-round health improvement is seen: better sleep, increased vitality and performance levels, as well as increased mobility.

SinusSolace Massage

SinusSolace Massage (Ear Candling) This centuries-old folk medicine practice involves the use of hollow candles – called ear candles or Hopi ear candles, referring to the Hopi Native American nation that uses them. These ear candles are rolled into the shape of a tube. Generally the wax is wrapped around linen cloth to prevent the wax from dripping. When placed in the ear and lit, ear wax, fungus, etc. are drawn up by the heat and removed from the ear. Following this non-painful procedure, the ears and sinus areas of the face are massaged, relieving any lingering blockages. (Doctors and some medical scientists have stated that the practice of ear candling has been shown to actually be ineffective at creating the vacuum in which is required to extract the toxins and impurities in the ear canal.) However, many practitioners and their clients have attested to the efficiency of ear candling. We believe that part of the success is that fact that you have to relax while the ear candling and massage is taking place. It is this relaxation which is so good for the mind and body and we can state that many clients indicate that they receive relief from sinuses when they have had the treatment.
